POWDER COATING

POWDER COATING

Powder coating is one of the most durable finishes your alloy wheel can have. It offers the wheel far more resistance to damage and corrosion when compared to a wet paint finish or diamond cut surfaces. Wheel Pro offers full repair and refurbishment of alloy wheels of any size using a variety of metal filling and sanding techniques. The process of powder coating is used to totally restore your wheel. We can even match the colour of your existing set or change it up completely; the choice is yours!

First, the alloy wheel is dipped in the acid bath to strip off any existing dirt, old paint and lacquer. It is then subjected to a high-pressure wash, removing the excess remaining from the acid treatment.

We then refurbish any damage to the surfaces using sanding and filling techniques to smooth out any problem areas and rebuild the damaged areas.

Now we preheat the wheel in our oven before we begin powder coating. After the wheel reaches the correct temperature one of our technicians expertly coats the wheel with the chosen colour. Having the wheel heated while applying the powder coat helps to ensure a smooth, even application The wheel then goes back in the oven to bake.

The alloy is then removed and allowed to cool, curing the painted finish. We then, using the same powder coating technique, finish the wheel by applying a clear lacquer to protect the painted finish before it goes back in the oven to bake again.

Finally, the wheel is removed and left to slowly cool, completing the process.
